WTH do all cults follow the same branding and marketing PR outline?

People do what works. No brainer. These are the marketing ploys of today. First it was "Movies" with the Photodrama. Then a radio station for international broadcasts. Then door to door records of Judge Rutherfarts talks. Now its the web and a teleborg station. Same old strategy different tech. -

Whatever Happened to the Remnant?
by snugglebunny inback in the 50's, when i was just a skinny kid, my father became po of a new congregation.
he'd only been baptised for around 4 years, so his rise was quite remarkable.just one of his flock in the new cachement area was of the "remnant".
this lady was well into her 60's, childless but married.

As "new" anointed started to multiply, a trend seemed to be that they exhibited some narcissistic attitudes. A lack of humility seemed to be rampant. When I was a child they were all elderly and therefore sedate and pious from years as a Witness. The new anointed were all young and acted like they were special. Most were either whack jobs, evident by their extreme views, or literally heard voices. I would steer clear of them not because of an edict from the GB but because they seemed to be fanatics. -

Passing ships in the night and the disobedient compassionate brother.
by The Marvster injust wanted to talk about two odd df'ing experiences i had; which gave me the 'personal' lesson that there are some in the wt who are definitely not militants when it comes to the whole disfellowshipping regime... .
passing ships in the night - the irony.
quite a while back, a brother turned up at my last congregation, he came to a few meetings and then i didn't see him for several weeks, and all of a sudden comes the announcement, he got df'd.

Isn't it strange that when a Witness treats you like a human being instead of a victim of Satan's trickery they are a hero? The fact is that ANY worldly person will treat you that way and they are not anything special. They just don't know how bad a person you are (sarcasm towards the Borg) because they truly expect that everyone is the same in God's eyes. I hate it when witnesses who act like a rational human are considered a credit to the religion. They are actually showing its all BS. Don't forget that and get sucked back in. -

LEFTOVERS and STOLEN LIGHT (An historical look at Watchtower laziness and misadventure)
by TerryWalstrom inshould the chosen mouthpiece (gb) be a voice or merely an imitative echo?.
is new light original (because it is coming direct from jehovah) or is it leftover from the minds of men?.
watchtower magazine failed to release new light first, before any other religious person or body.

Band Green Day and JWs
by hardtobeme ina few years ago i heard of a story about two jw's being at a green day concert.
i think that the witnesses were bethelites.
the person that told me that story said that the band was about to play but they couldn't.

It was John Denver on the Tonight show and Johnny Carson defended the JW's because he had one on his television crew. That went around in the 80's along with Harry Belafonte (or Don Ho, depending on which rumor you heard) who did the same show stopping eviction. Its all JW self importance persecution complex. Telephone, tell a witness.... ugh. Tella a story. -

To Kill A Mockingbird and Prequel
by Socrateswannabe inare you a fan of harper lee's "to kill a mockingbird"?
i read the book as a child and have read it many times since.
miss lee obviously wrote the book to entertain us, and she accomplished that.

I will wait till its a used book. I have an aversion to buying new books. I looked at it in the store and it seems to have a nice flow to it. I think its a valuable record for any aspiring authors who wish to see the writing process in action. Remember it was a first draft of TKAMB. The editor, (bless the editor) told Harper that the best parts of the book were the flashbacks when Scout speaks in her own voice. He encouraged her to rewrite the book from the little girl's point of view. That's why we have TKAMB. This was the dry run down the wrong road but an invaluable document of Harper's mind when she wrote TKAMB. I WILL READ IT FOR THAT REASON. Its a book people, not a memoir about her dad that seeks to trash him. Just maybe he was the bigot and not the hero? So? Read it for what it is, a stand alone book with different character studies. -

Remember the "Live Forever" book? We took to calling it the "Study Forever" book. Most of the time those who get baptized after all those years of studying don't last long. I guess they are smarter than they look. -

Remember Going Out In Field Service Before Thursday and Friday's Heat-Stroke Convention at Dodger Stadium?
by The1975Blues ini don't think the kids will remember going out in field service at your convention's city location helping the fiends do their territory.
on top of the horrendous heat-stroke sitting at dodger stadium we had to preach earlier in the week!
i heard some elderly witnesses speaking about "those were the good old days they thought" the grand old time they had while visiting the city of los angeles!

Went out in Reno on two occasions. Once was "street work" where we actually talked with people on the street. The other was door to door and we had a naked man open the door. Kinda ruined my thoughts of doing that again. Ugh.
